When She Dreams by Amanda Quick

Return to 1930s Burning Cove, California, the glamorous seaside playground for Hollywood stars, mobsters, spies, and a host of others who find more than they bargain for in this mysterious town. Maggie Lodge, assistant to the reclusive advice columnist known only as Dear Aunt Cornelia to her readers, hires down-but-not-quite-out private eye Sam Sage to help track down the person who is blackmailing her employer. Maggie and Sam are a mismatched pair. As far as Sam is concerned, Maggie is reckless and in over her head. She is not what he had in mind for a client, but he can’t afford to be choosy. Maggie, on the other hand, is convinced that Sam is badly in need of guidance and good advice. She does not hesitate to give him both. In spite of the verbal fireworks between them, they are fiercely attracted to each other, but each is convinced it would be a mistake to let passion take over. They are, after all, keeping secrets from each other. Sam is haunted by his past, which includes a marriage shattered by betrayal and violence. Maggie is troubled by intense and vivid dreams—dreams that she can sometimes control. There are those who want to run experiments on her and use her for their own purposes, while others think she should be committed to an asylum. When the pair discovers someone is impersonating Aunt Cornelia at a conference on psychic dreaming and a woman dies at the conference, the door is opened to a dangerous web of blackmail and murder. Secrets from the past are revealed, leaving Maggie and Sam in the path of a ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to exact vengeance. Read more

Amanda Quick (Jayne Ann Krentz) really knows her craft. She has a way with quirky , lovable characters, who you can't help but fall in love with. And her settings are so descriptive and picturesque, you can imagine yourself participating in the story. I can almost tell you exactly where to find her latest creation, Burning Cove, supposedly North of L.A in California. She is also an expert in the history and era she includes in her books. Amanda Quick specializes in the past and with Burning Cove she has moved on from Regency era to the post depression , early days of Hollywood and mobsters. When She Dreams ,is the newest of the Burning Cove novels. Once again I was hooked from the very first page. Her female protagonist is ,of all things , a new writer, and a lucid dreamer. Her personality part prim librarian, part curious author, provides a wonderful counterpart to her hero, the hard-core disillusioned, ex-cop turned PI, Sam. Their snarky, intimate conversations had me in stitches most of the time. The dream sequences were vivid and chillingly real. The whole concept of lucid dreamers , a conference on the field of dreaming was creatively original. I loved every minute of it, losing sleep to read it in one 24 hr session. There was no question about me pre-ordering When She Dreams. Amanda Quick is on my Must Read shelf. If you haven't already tried Amanda Quick novels, Run! Don't Walk ! And pick up her work ASAP! Just a note, you might read her series in order. They will make more sense!

🕚Read Data Mesh: Delivering Data-Driven Value at Scale by Zhamak Dehghani (Author)

Data Mesh: Delivering Data-Driven Value at Scale by Zhamak Dehghani (Author)   We're at an inflection point in data, where our data management solutions no longer match the complexity of organizations, the proliferation of data sources, and the scope of our aspirations to get value from data with AI and analytics. In this practical book, author Zhamak Dehghani introduces data mesh, a decentralized sociotechnical paradigm drawn from modern distributed architecture that provides a new approach to sourcing, sharing, accessing, and managing analytical data at scale. Dehghani guides practitioners, architects, technical leaders, and decision makers on their journey from traditional big data architecture to a distributed and multidimensional approach to analytical data management. Data mesh treats data as a product, considers domains as a primary concern, applies platform thinking to create self-serve data infrastructure, and introduces a federated computational model of data go...

🕓Free Becoming Muhammad Ali by James Patterson

Becoming Muhammad Ali by James Patterson   Two heavy-hitters in children's literature deliver a critically acclaimed, bestselling biographical novel of cultural icon Muhammad Ali.  "This utterly delightful story about Ali's childhood is a smash hit."—School Library Journal (starred review) Before he was a household name, Cassius Clay was a kid with struggles like any other. Kwame Alexander and James Patterson join forces to vividly depict his life up to age seventeen in both prose and verse, including his childhood friends, struggles in school, the racism he faced, and his discovery of boxing. Readers will learn about Cassius' family and neighbors in Louisville, Kentucky, and how, after a thief stole his bike, Cassius began training as an amateur boxer at age twelve. Before long, he won his first Golden Gloves bout and began his transformation into the unrivaled Muhammad Ali. Fully authorized by and written in cooperation with the Muhammad Ali estate, and v...
